Interview with The Keymakers

Interview with The Keymakers
Celebrity Sightings, Music

Hello Keymakers! Fill us in on what is new in the world of the Keymakers?

Red: We released our first ever EP, Spectra, about a month ago, so that is still pretty fresh. Now we’re kicking off our first tour ever this January! Beyond that, this EP release has allowed us to connect with a lot more fans in different parts of the world who have heard our music, and that’s been a LOT of fun for us. Next up is some remixes for the EP, and we’re working with some DJs and producers we’re super excited about, so look out for brand new releases within the next couple of months!

We saw on your IG the Live sessions of songs from your album Spectra. Very cool vibes. What inspired you to do these on Instagram?

Rome: Thank you! We’re music fans first and foremost, and our favorite thing about the artists we love is being able to see them do their thing in their element – whether that’s seeing them work on music behind the scenes or seeing them perform. So even when we don’t have performance footage to post, we try and let people into our processes and show them as much of us in our element – that’s what our IG page is all about – because that’s what we’d want as fans.

You have announced you are going on tour this year. Tell us more about that.

Red: The Spectra Tour is a chance for us to play the songs from our debut EP as well as a ton of other stuff we’ve prepared. We’re playing 14 shows in 5 states, including stops in Baltimore, New York City, Philly, and Boston, where we’re based at the moment! Set times range from 45 minutes all the way up to 3 hours, so we have a ton of material to play, a lot of which has never been heard by anyone but the two of us. We can’t wait to get out there on the road, connect with fans, make new friends, and share this set with the world.

Do you all get set stage fright or anxiety? If so, how do you combat that?

Rome: Definitely a bit, yeah. It’s a vulnerable place to be forsure. The worst part of it is just before the show, though. Once you’re up there and doing your thing, most of the anxiety fades – so it’s just bursting through that initial bubble. Also, it’s definitely nice to have someone you trust up there with you – it takes a little bit of the pressure off!

I know this is going to be tough, but if you had to pick one – which of your songs you have released or yet to release if your favorite?

Rome: Yeesh you weren’t kidding. If I had to pick, I’d say ‘Remember’

Red: Tough one for sure! For me it’s ‘What You Wanted’

Tell us where we can catch more of your music and support you online?

Red: We’re on Spotify, Apple, YouTube, and anywhere else you can find music! But to find out about new releases, see behind the scenes content, and just stay up to date with everything we’re up to, follow us on IG (@thekeymakers). We try and say what’s up to every new follower and love connecting with our fans. To catch us live, follow our Songkick here (http://bit.ly/thekeymakerslive)!
