Exclusive Interview with Mike Oellrich

Celebrity Justice, Celebrity Sightings, Gossip & Rumors, Music

Welcome! We love your website – tell us more about how you got started?

I was a former (and admittedly) failed Drummer, then producer, then rapper who once interned at Sony Music in NYC. I fell in love with the A&R department which is simply finding/developing and overseeing talent. I was out of the music industry for about 8 years when a friend told me to make them a playlist because she loves every song I play when we pre-game before going out. I thought about how I could find talent and do it on my own terms and so I started an IG page. It has been one of the better decisions i’ve made. 🙂

Are you a musician yourself? Yes. Taught myself how to play drums in High School ( I would literally watch Travis Barker and Blink-182 videos on YouTube and study him) then I had a roomie in college who taught me Fruity Loops and how to produce. Then I thought I would be the next great hip-hop phenom and tried rapping.

If you could pick artist or group to listen to over and over – who would it be?

This is so hard. Like literally making my brain hurt. I mean Drake is an obvious pick because he has such a diverse catalog of music, I love Justin Timberlake, Paramore, Bryson Tiller, Dermot Kennedy, I can listen to all of them at any time. I can go on…and on…and on…haha.

Tell us about some of the hardships you have had to overcome with starting your business?

Making Money and establishing myself. I think that is any business in the world, but I had to find a way to make money off of this and I really wanted people and musicians to WANT to submit music to me. A long way to go, but every day we get better.

What advice would you give to others looking to start a website or brand?

Don’t think for a second that you can cheat the system. There is no magic potion, no BOT, no secret formula to get followers or likes fast. It is a brick by brick, follow by follow, slowwwww burn, and that is the fun part. Get excited and be appreciative for every person who likes your pages, follows you, or tells you that you make cool shit. Trust yourself, try new things and keep tinkering with your brand or site.

Where can we find your website and six over new music? DrippyK_songoftheday on IG, SubmitHub.com or just email us. DrippyKSongs@gmail.com
