Hi Viviane! Great to chat with you!
Thanks for having me.
You teach elementary school. How long have you been doing that?
I have been teaching Elementary School for over ten years. I have taught in Brazil, United States, and Portugal.
What do you find to be the most rewarding part of teaching?
I love all the feedback I receive from my students and families. It is known that students learn when there is an emotional connection and I love when my students give me positive feedback as well as their parents. I often receive notes and letters from my students and their families and I think this is very rewarding.
Do you have any fun hobbies outside of teaching?
I love cooking. I always have guests over and I love to cook for them and try new recipes. I love cooking Brazilian dishes for my friends in NY.
How do you make sure to keep a balance between normal life and work-life?
I try to keep a balance by keeping my work hours from 8 am-3 pm. Working from home, was never easy, you could always take a break and go back to work, but I try to manage my work hours.
What would you say has been your biggest takeaway from teaching during covid this past year and a half?
I definitely think that I became an open-minded person after teaching for a year and a half during the pandemic. Teachers had to adjust teaching and curriculum to a new reality and it was also something new for us, not only for families and students. So, I think I became a more open-minded person after the pandemic.
Thank you so much for your time!
