The world may not have heard the last of Justin Timberlake and the fellas!
On Tuesday, the GRAMMY-winning singer sits down for an interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show and shares that the door is still open when it comes to more new *NSYNC music.
While discussing the parts of the music business that he has fallen in love with, the “Selfish” singer admits that he loves making magic in the studio.
“Growing up in the industry and getting access to so much in the studio, I just became like a studio rat,” he says. “Like I just loved being in there and I loved the creative process and also as it pertains to harmonies.”
“I spent some time with four other guys doing a lot of harmonies,” Timberlake teases, alluding to his time in the boy band with JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and Lance Bass.
*NSYNC reunited in September — after a 20-year hiatus — for the single “Better Place” from the Trolls Band Together soundtrack. After the moment, the world went crazy with speculation of a reunion tour and album.
Clarkson eagerly asks if there is a chance for the group to reunite for more music, and Timberlake says yes.
“That was fun, that was fun,” he says about the mini reunion. “It’s kinda crazy like, there’s so much that just picks up right where it left off as far as the chemistry. We’ve been in the studio so there may be a little something.”
Along with the release of the new single, *NSYNC appeared together at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, on an episode of Hot Ones and made their return to the red carpet together for the Trolls Band Together premiere in November.
After that moment, fans were left wondering, what’s next for the famous boy band?
In October, ET spoke with Fatone, who said never say never when it comes to a reunion.
“This is the first step, people, so we don’t know what’s gonna happen after,” he said. “It’s almost like I took you out on a date, we’re gonna hang out a little, we don’t know if we’re actually gonna go out for the next date or just get married and kick it, we don’t know yet… Basically the five of us got together, we had dinner. We haven’t slept with each other yet, but you never know.”
For now, Timberlake is promoting his upcoming sixth studio album, Everything I Thought It Was. Last week, Timberlake released his first single since 2018, “Selfish.” He performed the single, and premiered another track, “Sanctified,” on Saturday Night Live last weekend, where he served as the musical guest.
Timberlake also announced that he’s hitting the road this year for his 22-city Forget Tomorrow tour that kicks off in April.
