Gabriella has spoken! With the world going wild over the phenomenon known as “Swelce,” another singer who was formerly smitten with an athlete has spoken up.
Vanessa Hudgens recently reacted to a fan tweet on X (formerly known as Twitter) comparing the real-life romance between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift to that of High School Musical‘s Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) and Gabriella Montez (Hudgens).
The tweet from user @TheLuckyMia reads, “The Chiefs game and the Golden Globes being within hours of each other reminds me when Troy and Gabriella had the basketball game and the academic decathlon at the same time as the audition for the school musical.”
Hudgens replied to the viral tweet on her own account, simply writing, “Hilarious.”
Pop star Swift and NFL tight end Kelce have captivated fans and critics alike with their very public romance. Most recently, Swift joined Kelce on the field after the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Baltimore Ravens, cementing their spot in this year’s Super Bowl. The “Anti-Hero” singer kissed and hugged her man as the two were seen declaring their love for one another.
Plenty of other pop culture comparisons have been made about the high-profile couple, including fans noting the similarities between Swelce and Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray‘s characters Sam and Austin in the 2004 film A Cinderella Story. The fictional couple end their rom com by kissing on a football field in the rain.
A source told ET on Monday, “Taylor and Travis are so excited that the Chiefs and Travis are heading to the Super Bowl. They’re very in love and Taylor is super proud of him. They’re both extremely dedicated and hardworking and understand each other. They are relishing in this moment.”
Swift enjoyed Sunday’s game with the Kelce family — including the NFL star’s parents, Ed and Donna Kelce, as well as his brother, Jason Kelce, and sister-in-law, Kylie Kelce — along with her own pals Cara Delevingne and Keleigh Teller.
