Supporters of anti-LGBTQ+ former President Donald Trump often repeat his claim that CNN and other mainstream media outlets are “fake news.” However, when a supporter of Trump’s “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) wore a shirt with a cartoon image of Trump peeing on the CNN logo, Jason Selvig — one-half of the conservative-skewering comedy duo The Good Liars — asked him why he thought the news network is “fake news.” The man was stumped.
“Fake news, CNN. It’s all fake. Fake [CNN anchorman Jake] Tapper. CNN. We’re going to find out next week,” the MAGA man said, alluding to next week’s presidential debate on CNN.

Selvig then asked the man, “What specifically have they lied about?”
“I don’t know,” the man responded. “I don’t watch it.”
Selvig replied, “Well, you’ve got a shirt that’s just peeing on it, and you call it fake news. So what specifically have they lied about? What makes them fake news?”
The man stammered, “I don’t know. I don’t watch it. I watch Fox News.”
“Right,” Selvig replied. “But you call them fake news. Why do you think they’re fake news? What are they saying that’s fake.”
The man then stood in silence for a while before Selvig responded, “All right. There you have it.”
