The president of the Heritage Foundation — the conservative think tank that created Project 2025, the anti-Democratic blueprint for America’s future — says the United States is “in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the Left allows it to be.”

Kevin Roberts appeared on Steve Bannon’s War Room podcast — absent Steve Bannon, who is serving four months in prison on charges of contempt of Congress — to tell the far-right audience they should be encouraged by recent events like the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on presidential immunity.

“We’re in the process of taking this country back,” Roberts said. “No one in the audience should be despairing.”

The Heritage Foundation is responsible for Project 2025, the authoritarian blueprint for a second Trump presidency. The 1,000-page handbook, written by a cadre of former Trump administration officials, seeks to vastly increase the powers of the presidency, effectively granting Trump’s wish to be “a dictator on Day One.”

Encouraged by a string of setbacks for the Left — the high Court’s immunity ruling, a delay in sentencing for Donald Trump’s hush-money felony convictions, President Biden’s dismal debate performance, and new polling confirming it  — Roberts gloated.

“The reason that so many anchors on MSNBC, for example, are losing their minds daily is because our side is winning,” he said.

The Supreme Court decision, by a vote of 6-3 along ideological lines, granted U.S. presidents absolute immunity from prosecution for actions that fall within the core responsibilities of the office. Presidents are “at least presumptively immune” from criminal and civil prosecution for all other official acts, the court’s Republican-majority ruled.

The decision will further delay the prosecution of Trump over the events on January 6, as the judge in that case, Tanya Chutkin, determines what evidence among the charges could constitute “official” versus “private” acts.

Roberts called the decision “vital for a lot of reasons,” not least because a more powerful presidency is central to Project 2025’s vision.

Speaking to former Rep. Dave Brat (R-VA), who served as a substitute broadcast host for Bannon, Roberts said, “You know, former congressman, the importance of Congress doing its job, but we also know the importance of the executive being able to do his job. And can you imagine, Dave Brat, any president, put politics off to the side, any president having to second guess, triple guess every decision they’re making in their official capacity? You couldn’t have the republic that you just described.”

What would be left of the Republic after a second Trump presidency based on Project 2025 is almost unimaginable.

In one unhinged chapter dripping with Christian Nationalist ideology, the authors propose outlawing pornography.

“The people who produce and distribute it should be imprisoned. Educators and public librarians who purvey it should be classed as registered sex offenders. And telecommunications and technology firms that facilitate its spread should be shuttered,” reads one excerpt from the think tank’s so-called “Mandate for Leadership.”

Philip Wallach of the American Enterprise Institute has called Project 2025’s visioning effort an “authoritarian fantasy.”

“Some of these visions, they do start to just bleed into some kind of authoritarian fantasies where the president won the election, so he’s in charge, so everyone has to do what he says,” Wallach told the Associated Press. “That’s just not the system of government we live under.”

“In spite of all this nonsense from the left,” Heritage president Roberts asserted, “we are going to win.”
