Wilson Wilson, a high school art teacher in Pitt Meadows, British Columbia in Canada, has filed a human rights complaint after being doxxed and harassed online.

Wilson says they are the victim of hateful and violent messages sent by a user called “Blonde Bigot,” identified in court documents as Joanna Evenson, the parent of one of Wilson’s students.

Wilson said they were called “a variety of slurs, accusations, and it’s all (because) I’m a teacher,” said Wilson. They also shared that the messages consist of “calling me a groomer, a sick pervert.”

In November, Wilson had his personal information posted on an X (formerly Twitter) page called “Libs of TikTok,” an anti-LGBTQ+ social media account run by former real estate agent — and recent addition to the Southern Poverty Law Center’s extremist database — Chaya Raichik.

Libs of TikTok doxxed Wilson, sharing their name, picture and place of work to the account’s three million followers.

Wilson said they filed an official human rights complaint with government authorities to help other trans people who may be going through online harassment, to “empower more trans people, more queer people, more people who are experiencing harassment, and violence and threats and degradation that does violate our human rights.”

This isn’t the first time Libs of TikTok has been responsible for the harassment of a queer teacher. In fact, the social media account has led to the resignation or firing of at least five teachers due to their sexual orientation, gender expression, and support for the LGBTQ+ community. Sometimes educators have faced death threats or their schools had been targeted with bomb threats after Raichik highlights them.

Libs of TikTok is also linked to a series of bomb threats against Planet Fitness gyms because they allowed trans girls and women to use the correct locker room and bathroom matching their gender identity.

The Southern Poverty Law Center said that Raichik was added to its database of extremists for using the kind of language that Wilson’s harasser used, saying that Raichik and Libs of TikTok “helped revive in right-wing propaganda the anti-LGBTQ+ ‘groomer’ slur, which implies that all LGBTQ+ people are pedophiles. She spreads the anti-LGBTQ+ conspiracy theory that ‘groomers’ have infiltrated every social institution with the intent of ‘sexualizing’ children.”

Global News talked to Barbara Findlay, a lawyer with Lawyers against Transphobia, who said that “Trans people are targeted directly, and they’re also targeted when organizations (or accounts like) Libs of TikTok get involved and send tsunamis of hate mail.”
