Machine Gun Kelly has revealed that he lost $50,000 (£39,000) playing Blackjack in Las Vegas.

Last week (August 8), the rapper made a surprise appearance with Jelly Roll at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium to perform their recent collaboration, ‘Lonely Road’.

The track, which nods to the John Denver classic with a reworked chorus, was worked on by the pair for two years, according to an Instagram post by Kelly last month (July 24).

“8 different studios, 4 different countries, changed the key 4 times, and this Friday you’ll hear we finally got it right,” he wrote of the track.

During the performance of the duet in Vegas, Kelly admitted he went out to the Las Vegas casinos where he lost $50,000 playing Blackjack.

“I lost $50,000 on the blackjack table tonight,” he told the audience. “I need you all to go stream ‘Lonely Road’ and make that money back,” MGK said on stage, before he and Jelly Roll started laughing. You can watch the moment here.

After starting his career in rap with 2012 debut album ‘Lace Up’, MGK would then go on to transition into emo and pop-punk beginning with 2020’s ‘Tickets To My Downfall‘. His new era of country music began earlier this year having covered The Chicks’ ‘There’s Your Trouble’ at CMA Fest. He also continued his foray into country with a recent cover of Zach Bryan’s ‘Sun To Me’.

Speaking about his collaboration with MGK, Jelly Roll wrote on Instagram: “What makes this collab so beautiful is its two guys that came from the exact same kinda place with less than zero percent of making it out it. We have known each other for at least 15 years now.

“And in true young dumb fashion it was a tumultuous beginning and basically it’s because I was one of the many people that judged him before I gave him a chance. but over time I’ve had the honor of watching him become one of the biggest artist on earth but most importantly I’ve watched him become one of the best fathers and humans on earth.”

The pair last teamed up at CMA Fest in June.
