Here is everything you need to know about the character’s absence and comeback in the series.

Where was Kim Burgess in Chicago PD Season 12 Episode 2?

In Episode 2, Burgess calls her fiancé Adam Ruzek up while she is away at a policing conference.

Viewers have been curious about Burgess’ absence since the premiere episode of Season 12. This even led to speculations about Squercati’s character coming to an end or the actress leaving the series. However, the makers explained Burgess’ absence in the first episode with Ruzek’s phone call with his lady love. She was away at a conference and revealed to Ruzek that she was deeply disturbed by a case she was working on. While Burgess wanted to come back as soon as possible, she revealed Detective Emily Martel motivated her to stay back as the program might lead to her promotion in the department.

Further, in the second episode of Season 12, viewers get a glimpse of Kim Burgess again. She calls up Ruzek again who is in the middle of a manhunt to track down Martel’s killer. However, he refuses to break the tragic news of Martel’s death to Burgess considering their longtime friendship.

After a brief mention in the first two episodes of Chicago P.D. Season 12, Burgess will finally make a comeback in the third episode. The officer will be back in action and will join the Intelligence Unit to solve cases together.

Additionally, viewers are in for a treat this season with the wedding of Burgess and Ruzek, as confirmed by showrunner Gwen Sigan with TV Insider.

Viewers can follow these developments by catching the episodes of Chicago PD Season 12 on NBC and Peacock.
