Taylor Swift has officially become the world’s richest female musician, with an estimated net worth of $1.6billion (£1.2billion)

Earlier this year, Swift appeared on Forbes‘ annual billionaires list for the first time ever, and yesterday (October 5), they updated her net worth to reflect its growth amid her ongoing, colossal ‘Eras Tour’ and the continued popularity of her catalogue.

According to the publication, Swift now tops the list of the richest female musicians – surpassing Rihanna who reportedly has a net worth of $1.4billion (£1billion). However, according to Forbes, Rihanna retains the title of “Richest Female Musician of All Time”, as her net worth once had a peak evaluation of $1.77 billion (£1.3billion).

The ‘Love Story’ singer is also ranked at Number 2 on the list of richest musicians, with Jay-Z taking the top spot due to his estimated value of $2.5billion.

In their summary of the superstar’s wealthForbes estimated she had made $600million (£457million) from her royalties and touring, and another $600million from her catalogue.

Much of this fortune comes from the singer-songwriter’s string of re-recorded albums which she has made in a bid to regain control of her master recordings. The most recent of which was the re-release of her 2014 album ‘1989’, which went on to outsell the original record.

Forbes also claimed she made $125million (£99.5million) in real estate, and reportedly also earned $100million (£79.6million) from Spotify streaming royalties alone last year, thanks to the combined power of 2022’s ‘Midnights‘ and 2023’s ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’.

Bloomberg originally reported that Swift became a billionaire in October 2023, thanks to her new albums, the ‘Eras’ tour (the first tour to ever gross $1billion (£795million) and record-breaking concert film.

In other Taylor Swift news, the pop star wrapped up the UK and European leg of her Eras Tour in August with five final dates at Wembley Stadium.

To commemorate the occasion, the stadium gifted her with her own personalised Wembley guitar. It has also been suggested that Swift should be awarded the London Freedom of the City for her record-breaking residency.

She is due to re-commence the final stretch of her ongoing tour in Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium on October 18, before ending the mammoth ‘Eras Tour’ run in Vancouver, Canada in early December.

Swift recently shared that she’s backing Democratic Party candidate and current Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming US election.

Last month, the singer announced her endorsement of Harris’ presidential candidacy, championing her as “a steady-handed, gifted leader”. Swift added: “She fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them… I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”

The update sparked backlash from Trump, who made headlines soon afterwards by sharing a post on social media reading “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT”.
