Recent reports reveal plans for WWE Superstar AJ Styles to make an appearance in his former promotion, TNA Wrestling. Before joining WWE in 2016, Styles established himself as a major star in the promotion.
For twelve strong years, Styles served as a cornerstone of TNA Wrestling, achieving numerous accolades and capturing multiple titles. After concluding his run in 2014, he went into the independent circuit, wrestling for various promotions.
Styles eventually came into NJPW, where he made a significant impact during his brief stint. He also secured the top prize IWGP Heavyweight title in the promotion and became the leader of the infamous faction Bullet Club.
Following these successful runs in different wrestling promotions, AJ Styles debuted in WWE at the 2016 Royal Rumble as the third entrant, surprising fans. Upon his arrival, he quickly made a name for himself and captured the WWE Championship a few months later. Throughout the years, Styles has created many memorable moments in WWE. This includes him being The Undertaker’s final opponent before the Deadman retired.
Recently, WWE established a working relationship between NXT and TNA. This has sparked speculation about AJ Styles potentially returning to TNA Wrestling. While those speculations never came to fruition, a new update surfaced regarding the plans for Styles in the faction.
WWE reportedly declined AJ Styles’ TNA Wrestling Hall of Fame induction
According to reports from Fightful Select behind a paywall, plans were in place for AJ Styles to be inducted into the TNA Wrestling Hall of Fame. Both AJ Styles and Monty Brown were considered for this year’s induction. However, WWE was approached about the opportunity but ultimately passed on it.
The reasons behind WWE’s decision remain unclear. The reports mentioned some within TNA speculate that Styles’ injury or his current storyline in WWE may have influenced the decision. However, some still hope Styles will be available to make an appearance in his former promotion in the future.
A few months ago, AJ Styles wrestled in NOAH against Naomichi Marufuji. It will be interesting to see if there are any plans for Styles to appear in TNA Wrestling. He was scheduled to begin his farewell tour. However, on the October 4th edition of WWE SmackDown, he sustained a foot injury during a match against Carmelo Hayes. This injury has affected those plans, so there is currently no timeline for his return.
