Married soccer stars Kristie Mewis and Samantha Kerr are expecting a baby. The couple announced the news on Instagram along with a series of black and white photo booth pictures of the happy couple in which they are holding a sonogram. “Mewis-Kerr baby coming 2025!” the caption reads.

Kerr – who is considered one of the best women’s strikers in the world – is currently a forward for the Australian women’s national team and also plays for Chelsea FC. Mewis now plays for West Ham United FC – which congratulated the couple on its website – and also spent a long time representing the United States on the women’s national team.

“Our world is a million times better,” the former ‘Bachelor’ contestant wrote on Instagram.

A 2022 article in Gaffer described the couple’s love as electric: “The chemistry they have surrounds them like an aura and the genuine love for each other oozes out in their body language.”

In 2023, they announced their engagement in People. Mewis called Kerr her “biggest supporter, always listening to me nag and complain all, all of my crazy antics.”

They announced their relationship in 2021 with a heartwarming photo on Instagram. Rumors had been swirling after the pair shared a touching moment on the field when Team USA beat Team Australia at the Tokyo Olympics.

The post announcing the pregnancy was flooded with a mix of congratulatory comments as well as homophobic ones.

England manager Sarina Wiegman condemned the bigotry, telling reporters it was “disappointing.”

Chelsea FC also provided a statement to Reuters calling the comments “unacceptable and hateful.”
