LOS ANGELES – OCT 21: Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris arrives for the 2019 InStyle Awards on October 21, 2019 in Los Angeles, CA
Soccer player Ali Krieger has released a vague statement about “misinformation” after ex-wife and fellow soccer star Ashlyn Harris revealed details about their divorce on a recent podcast.
“I’m overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support I’ve received this last year,” Krieger wrote on Instagram. “However, amidst this warmth, I’ve also had to confront a wave of dishonesty and misinformation regarding my marriage and personal life. While I’m not yet prepared to make a formal statement, I feel compelled to address this currently to prevent further distortion of the truth.”

Krieger did not hint at what spurred her to make these comments, but it follows Harris’ appearance on the Naked Sports podcast, where she claimed she once proposed an open marriage with Krieger in an attempt to save their relationship.
Many have criticized Harris for airing the couple’s private conflicts with the world, especially considering they have two children. “I didn’t know how to tell people that, like, oh, my wife doesn’t want to touch me,” Harris said during her interview with Naked Sports host Cari Champion.
“I constantly wanted more,” Harris said. “I constantly wanted the feeling of being loved the same way I loved — I just felt like I wasn’t a priority.”
She said deciding to separate from Krieger was the “hardest thing” she’s ever done, adding “I had to take my power back, and people were hurt in that process.”
“I wanted someone to love me so bad,” she said. “I caved every bit of who I was inside to try to be more lovable, to be enough. Just wanted to be enough. I wanted to be able to walk through the door and someone miss me, want me, need me in a way that wasn’t so business, that wasn’t so on the field… I felt like I was living with a stranger.”
The conversation went on and on, with Harris sharing deeply personal emotions and details about her perception of her marriage with Krieger that led her to leave. She also spoke about the way social media affected her mental health throughout the divorce.
Harris began dating actress Sophia Bush soon after her split with Krieger, leading to a lot of speculation on social media that Harris and Bush had an affair that ended the soccer stars’ marriage – something both Bush and Harris have vehemently denied.
