Grey’s Anatomy’s Martin Henderson Addresses Potential Return
Movies

Martin Henderson has come out to share his two cents on his possible return as Dr. Nathan Riggs to the fan-favorite medical drama, Grey’s Anatomy. The New Zealand actor made his debut on the series in 2015 and instantly managed to garner a dedicated fanbase due to his acting charm. However, Henderson exited the show just two seasons later, marking his final appearance in Season 14. Nonetheless, if his recent comments are anything to go by, the door for his to return to Grey’s Anatomy remains open for the time being.

Martin Henderson says he’ll return to Grey’s Anatomy if there’s a ‘clear plan’

The 50-year-old actor expressed in a recent interview that he could make a comeback to the long-running series if the makers can carve out a proper arc for his character.

While talking to Deadline, Martin Henderson shed light on potentially returning to Grey’s Anatomy. He stated, ” I haven’t given it a lot of thought, just because I’ve been so committed and busy with Virgin River and some other stuff and life.” Henderson then added, “I would always be open to the possibility. Again, if it fitted in with whatever else was going on in my life at the time and my career.”

The Virgin River star then emphasized that he would only return if his character had “something to do,” which seemingly wasn’t the case in his initial outing. Nathan Riggs majorly serves as an alternate love interest for Ellen Pompeo’s Meredith Grey after the sudden departure of Patrick Dempsey’s Derek.

Moreover, Martin Henderson’s final appearance on Grey’s Anatomy sees his character ride off into the sunset with Abigail Spencer’s Megan Hunt and their son. Nonetheless, the honeymoon ending did not last long as Hunt discloses in Season 18 that the duo had broken up.

If Henderson’s character were to come back, it would only happen if “there was a really clear plan for why he was there,” as per the actor. Meanwhile, showrunner Meg Marinis has also claimed that the return of any past character is possible, adding further fuel to the speculations. However, Dr. Nathan Riggs’ official return has yet to receive any official word from the creators.
