K-pop girl group GFRIEND have touched on reuniting for their 10th anniversary and why they “had confidence” that it would’ve happened eventually.

Earlier this week, GFRIEND reunited to release the special album ‘Season of Memories’ to commemorate their 10th anniversary. The project marked the girl group’s first release in four years, after they left long-time agency Source Music and went on hiatus.

In a new interview with The Korea Times, GFRIEND discussed how they came together for the anniversary release and what has changed about their dynamic in the past four years.

“Whenever we met, we naturally talked about our 10th anniversary and had confidence that we would gather again someday,” they said. “We particularly wanted to do so on the occasion of our 10th anniversary,”

“It was possible because all six members had strong determination and trusted each other. We’re proud of the members who made the concert and 10th debut anniversary project a reality when it was just a vague idea before,” GFRIEND told the news outlet.

The members also discussed how their own projects over the past few years have allowed them to grow as performers.

“All the members’ voices seem to have deepened and grown. Now, everyone has found their own colour,” said Yerin, adding that performing as a six-piece “still feels just as good” as it was before. “It was impressive to see them trying to blend well as a team rather than showing off their individuality,” she added.

Meanwhile, dancer and vocalist SinB shared that her attitude towards work has matured. “I’ve become more assertive than before,” she said. “What I haven’t changed until now is that I always watch and study our practice videos to ensure I don’t fall below the standards we’ve set for ourselves”.

Aside from ‘Season of Memories’, GFRIEND will also be embarking on a reunion tour, with shows in South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
