Scott Bessent scolded to his face for interrupting everyone in searing rebuke in House committee

Out gay Treasury Secretary and extremely wealthy hedge fund manager Scott Bessent got called out in the House yesterday for constantly interrupting people who are poorer than he is.

Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett (D-Virgin Islands) was talking about how the stock market has lost value since the current administration started earlier this year during a House Ways and Means Committee hearing yesterday, when Bessent decided to interrupt her.

The fight allegedly happened during a period of time when Musk was also accused of doing various drugs.

“Excuse me,” Plaskett said. “Let me get something straight with you first here. I’ve seen you interrupt everyone. When you come to someone’s house, you respect their rules. And in this house, we don’t interrupt individuals. And you’re not going to interrupt my time.”

Bessent tried to start talking again, but Plaskett kept going.

“I’m going to give you time to respond. You may want to jot down some notes about things that you don’t agree with me on so that you can respond to them at that time. But while I’m speaking, as the person holding this time, you will refrain from speaking, sir-“

Bessent tried to start talking over her again.

“-until I am done, and then I will give you time to speak, OK?”

“I look forward to the facts,” Bessent responded smarmily.

“OK, thank you,” Plaskett said. “I’ll look forward to your response, whether they’re factual or incorrect.” She then continued talking about the stock market.

Plaskett wasn’t the only person Bessent interrupted, Rawstory notes. He also interrupted Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-CA), and she called him out.

“But please don’t interrupt me during my time,” she said. “OK, I know I’m a woman, but please try to limit yourself to answering my questions.”

People can be heard jeering when she made that comment, but it’s unclear who responded that way.

Plaskett represents the U.S. Virgin Islands in the House of Representatives. Since it’s a U.S. territory and not a state, Plaskett is a delegate with limited voting privileges in the House.
