Interview: Emily V.

Celebrity Sightings, Fashion, Music

Hello Emily! Thanks for taking time to chat with us today! We know you are busy out on the road – for fans that haven’t seen you – what can they expect when they come out and catch a live show?

Hi, Thank you!  For fans that have not seen me live, they can expect a high energy show!!  I put one thousand percent of myself into every show I play, no matter what!  I like to push the limits of what people expect a violinist to do.  My playing is very unique and unorthodox.

Do you have any weird or cool pre show rituals?

I don’t have too many weird preshow rituals.  I think pretty normal, I like to shower and I ALWAYS have tea before I perform.  I try to stretch before and when I do my hair and makeup is sort of my quiet mediation time before the madness.

What was the first concert you ever attended and what impact did that have on you?

I can’t remember exactly what my very first concert was.  I do remember at a young age seeing WAR.  I was by far the youngest person in the audience.  I also very vividly remember seeing David Grisman live with his amazing band.  They are a fusion of bluegrass, folk and jazz but they rock pretty hard.  I was in awe of the musicianship on stage.  David Grisman has been a favorite of mine on the mandolin for a long time!

Tell us when you knew that music was going to be something you would pursue full time?

I knew from an extremely young age that I was going to be a violinist and an alternative one at that!  When I got to high school a lot of people told me I would not be happy being a full time musician.  That was the only time I faltered in my decision to be a full time musician.  As fate would have it though, I was pulled back into the music world very quickly when I was attending my junior college.  I had graduated high school early and was very young in college.  Once I was recruited into the music department at my junior college, it was full throttle from there on out!

Social media is a great way for fans to connect with their favorite artist these days – what platform do you use the most?

I am very active on Instagram and Facebook!!  I love to interact with my fans, send me messages and comments!  I love it.

Anything else you would like to share?

I love my fans!!  Its what fuels the music world!  Thank you for everyone’s support.

Tell us where to follow you on IG.
