Interview with Nice Ghost

Celebrity Sightings, Music

Welcome Nice Ghost! Thanks for chatting with us today! Now, you have a new album coming out next month! Can you tell us more about it?

Yes, I’d love to! Thanks! It’s a full-length record named “Digital,” and I couldn’t be more excited. This album was a daring move for me, I had to break out of the comfort zone and record it all myself – so it was a major learning process, but I’m happy with how it turned out. I poured so much energy into it, I can’t believe it’s finally release time. Every song sounds different than the one before it, but there’s a lot of Radiohead, Beck, and Weezer influence that shows up.

What is the meaning behind your name?

Think of it like… it’s a nice ghost – not like, a super friendly one necessarily, but one that’s high quality. Like “hey man, wow that’s a super nice ghost you got there.”

What inspires your music?

Anything and everything – but usually it stems from binge-listening to my favorite artists. I’ll listen all day to someone, and then find myself writing songs immediately once I turn it off. As for lyrics and subject matter, that can vary. The sound of the wind, the chatter of people in the city, the hum of traffic, the mountains… everything is inspiring if you are looking for inspiration.

How would you define success?

Mainly, just being able to do what I love and make a living, that’s what I call success. Right now, I’ve had to change the big picture to accomodate for the pandemic, and I’ll honestly consider it a success if I can pull through this thing alive, healthy, and still making music.

What motivates you?

Well, the “dream,” as it were. I want to be playing my songs for stadiums and festivals. I want to win a Grammy! I’ve always wondered what it would be like to give an acceptance speech for one of those…

What’s one thing fans would never guess about you?

I was in a country band. Like, full blown beer-drinking-truck-driving country. Probably seems out of character for me – which it is. I had a great time though, and I’d do it again!

Where can we check out your music?

It’s on all the major platforms – Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, Napster, Deezer, Tidal, and more. The full length album “Digital” comes out 8/28. Thank you!
