Shooting Near Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Victory Parade: Everything to Know

Multiple people have been shot after gunfire erupted Wednesday in downtown Kansas City and police say two armed individuals are now in custody.

The shooting happened just west of Union Station moments after the Chiefs’ Super Bowl Victory Parade ended on Wednesday. At this moment, it’s unclear exactly how many people were shot. Police initially escorted parade spectators away from Union Station. Some were told to get under a stage, according to NFL Network reporter James Palmer.

Video and images show people running for cover as chaos descended around Union Station, site of where the Chiefs held their rally after completing a parade that slowly snaked its way through downtown. According to KCTV, two armed people were taken into custody by police.

At this moment, the severity of injuries is not known.

The Chiefs were celebrating their second consecutive Super Bowl victory, after defeating the San Francisco 49ers in overtime on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
