Gay actor Kevin Spacey has been accused of sexual assault by nine additional men who will appear in a forthcoming two-part documentary entitled Spacey Unmasked, which will air in the U.S. next week. Spacey has denied the allegations and accused the documentary’s creators of only giving him seven days to respond to “anonymized and non-specific allegations” in “their desperate attempt for ratings.”

The accusers say the alleged assaults occurred over five decades, from when Spacey was a high school teen to the height of his career, before he was initially accused of multiple sexual assaults in October 2017, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Spacey has never been found guilty of sexual assault in any U.S. or U.K. court.

One of the accusers in the documentary was an aspiring actor who alleged that Spacey masturbated in front of him in a public theater before moving his hand toward his groin to assist. Another accuser was an ex-marine who said that Spacey “forced himself” onto him at a party hosted by actor Bruce Willis.

Most of the victims in the documentary claim that Spacey offered to help them with their careers but then expected “sexual favors.” Others said they declined to publicly accuse Spacey when the assaults allegedly occurred because Spacey was still closeted at the time, and such accusations would have outed the actor.

“I will not sit back and be attacked by a dying network’s one-sided ‘documentary’ about me in their desperate attempt for ratings,” Spacey wrote on May 2 on the social media site X. “There’s a proper channel to handle allegations against me and it’s not Channel 4. Each time I have been given the time and a proper forum to defend myself, the allegations have failed under scrutiny and I have been exonerated.”

Spacey promised to issue additional statements in his defense over the coming weekend.

Spacey came out in October 2017 as several men alleged that he had sexually harassed or assaulted them as children or teens in offenses that allegedly took place as far back as the 1980s. Among them was the son of actor Richard Dreyfuss — who said that Spacey fondled him in front of his unaware father — and out award-winning actor Anthony Rapp, though Rapp lost his sexual assault lawsuit against him.

Among these allegations were also those from House of Cards employees, eight of whom accused Spacey of sexual harassment and one of whom accused him of sexual assault. A U.K. court cleared Spacey of nine sexual offense charges that allegedly occurred between 2001 and 2013. Another alleged victim who pressed criminal charges, subsequently dropped the case after refusing to testify and losing a cell phone that might’ve contained evidence.

London’s renowned Old Vic Theatre, where Spacey served for years as artistic director, found 20 allegations of abuse or misconduct against Spacey. Following the theatre’s investigation, various criminal or civil proceedings against Spacey began taking place in various jurisdictions. Even a member of the Norwegian royal house accused Spacey of touching him inappropriately without consent.

Prior to the allegations against Spacey, he was known as an Academy Award-winning actor who appeared in The Usual Suspects (1995), L.A. Confidential (1997), American Beauty (1999), and Recount (2008). He starred for five seasons in House of Cards, which was Netflix’s first original TV program. He also was the Artistic Director of London’s renowned Old Vic Theatre for years.
