Another series based on The Night Agent author’s novel is confirmed to be in development. Amazon MGM Studios is working on The 500 TV adaptation, based on Matthew Quirk’s debut thriller novel of the same name.

Following the successful debut of the Gabriel Basso-led The Night Agent on Netflix, which will soon return on the streamer for Season 2, the New York Times bestseller’s 2012 debut novel is poised to be adapted into a television series.

Andrew Sodroski (Manhunt) will be the project’s showrunner and executive producer. He will also turn Quirk’s piece of literature into a series as the show’s writer. Additional executive producers include David Weil and Natalie Williams.

What is The 500 TV adaptation about?

The first in Quirk’s Mike Ford series, The 500 — billed as the author’s “explosive debut” — will center on a former con artist as he tries to figure his way out after he gets thrown into the corrupted and dangerous world of Washington’s consulting firm.

The novel’s synopsis (via Quirk’s official website) reads: “A year ago, fresh out of Harvard Law School, Mike Ford landed his dream job at the Davies Group, Washington’s most powerful consulting firm. Now, he’s staring down the barrel of a gun, pursued by two of the world’s most dangerous men. To get out, he’ll have to do all the things he thought he’d never do again: lie, cheat, steal–and this time, maybe even kill.

Mike grew up in a world of small-stakes con men, learning lessons at his father’s knee. His hard-won success in college and law school was his ticket out. As the Davies Group’s rising star, he rubs shoulders with “The 500,” the elite men and women who really run Washington — and the world. But peddling influence, he soon learns, is familiar work: even with a pedigree, a con is still a con.”

Other details about the series adaptation of The 500 remain under wraps, including the stars attached to the project.
