The American Family Association (AFA), the long-running hate group founded by bigoted Christian minister Donald Wildmon, is fighting Pride Month with some anti-Pride merch including a couple of t-shirts, a sticker, and a screen saver.

They’ve also recycled some old books as part of their Pride Month counteroffensive, too — and that’s it.

A person can take all of the items in AFA’s “Pride Month Response” inventory home for under a hundred bucks. The screensaver is free.

“What better time to inform, equip, and activate than during so-called ‘Pride Month’!” AFA asked members rhetorically in a recent message.

You can pick up an AFA “Activate” T-shirt in Cherry Red or Dark Heather Gray with the org’s hopelessly awkward call to action across the front: “Inform, Equip, Activate – American Family Association.” It’s $18 and comes in sizes from extra-small to 5XXXXX-large.

There’s a “Reclaim the Rainbow” pocket T in something called “Comfort Colors crimson.” Its front design says, “Remember the Covenant. Reclaim the Rainbow.” It’s 100% cotton and just $23.

Books include What Does the Bible Really Teach About Homosexuality? a Kevin DeYoung joint. “In this timely book,” its description reads, “award-winning author Kevin DeYoung challenges each of us — the skeptic and the seeker, the certain and the confused — to take a humble look at God’s Word regarding the issue of homosexuality.” This tome can be yours for just $12!

There’s also Dangerous Affirmation: The Threat of Gay Christianity by M.D. Perkins. “The emergence of ‘gay celibate theology’ is causing confusion in evangelical churches through its appeal to modern psychology and LGBT-lived experience,” Perkins writes. “How did we get here? What does the Bible say about all of this?” You can ponder these and other questions — like who am I, and why am I here?— for just $20.

Last on the list is this “Product of the Month”: Cultural Institute: Practical Ways to Minister to the Sexually Broken, Special Edition. Its description reads: “How can I reach the sexually broken effectively with grace and truth? While the church is plagued by the lies of ‘gay Christianity,’ sincere Christians are seeking to show compassion to those who are struggling without compromising the truth of God’s Word.” It’s just $8. At a price that low, you can’t afford not to buy it, let alone compromise the truth of God’s Word.

AFA was founded by Wildmon in 1977 and is best known in its early days of boycotts aimed at immorality on television. Wildmon died in 2023; the AFA regime is now run by his son, AFA president Tim Wildmon.

AFA has long been labeled an anti-LGBTQ+ hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center for its “propagation of known falsehoods” and the use of “demonizing propaganda” against LGBTQ+ people.

The group created the hectoring One Million Moms (OMM) organization in the 2010s with the stated goal of mobilizing parents to “stop the exploitation of children” by the media, using the same boycott tactics refined in the 1970s for the digital age.

OMM throws a fit anytime anything even remotely gay happens on TV.
