The trial of Slowthai, who last year pleaded not guilty after being accused of two counts of rape, has been delayed.

The rapper, real name Tyron Frampton, faces two counts of raping a woman in Oxford on September 8, 2021. When he first appeared before Oxfordshire Magistrates Court last year (May 16), he was charged with oral and vaginal penetration of a woman without her consent.

At the time, the rapper, who was withdrawn from various festival line-ups including Reading & Leeds and Glastonbury, took to social media to deny any wrongdoing.

“Regarding the allegations being reported about me,” his post stated, “I categorically deny the charges. I am innocent and confident my name will be cleared. Until then I will apply my energy to ensure this is concluded swiftly and justly.”

He added: “I ask that my supporters don’t comment about this situation and respect the process and privacy of my family during this time.”

His wife, Anne-Marie, who recently performed at Glastonbury 2024, is yet to publicly comment on the situation.

Frampton was set to stand trial alongside co-defendant Alex Walker today (July 1) at Oxford Crown Court. Last year, both were granted bail on the condition that they keep their solicitors informed on their place of residence.

It’s now emerged (via Yahoo! News) that proceedings have been delayed, with Judge Ian Pringle saying: “It was impossible to accommodate the trial for this date.”

A new date has now been scheduled for November 25, and is estimated to take two to three weeks.
