Karen O and Danger Mouse have shared their new single ‘Super Breath’, marking their first new music together since 2019.

Opening with a pulsing bass line combined with a chilling synth melody, O sings: “quit playin’ cool / push me aside / I die each time / I’m not your fool,” describing the feelings with an unfulfilled love.

The new track comes along with the announcement of a reissue of the duo’s 2019 LP ‘Lux Prima’ which will be re-released on September 19. The reissue will include a 7″pressing of ‘Super Breath’ with their previously recorded cover of Lou Reed’s ‘Perfect Day’ as the B-side.

It will also include a 16-page booklet highlighting the Encounter With Lux Prima immersive listening event at Los Angeles’s Marciano Arts Foundation. You can pre-order the album here.

Previously speaking to NME about the album, Karen O and Danger Mouse opened up about the significant role music plays in their life. “Music is my fucking church. I don’t prescribe to any religion or whatever – music is what gets me through the ups and downs of life, both making it and listening to it,” the Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman shared while Danger mouse – real name Brian Burton – added “I’m less comfortable with anything but making music.”

In a four-star review of ‘Lux Prima’, NME shared: “Closer ‘Nox Lumina’ (“last light”) pulls you in with a glacial string line, underpinned by electronic burbles like the distant chatter of extra-terrestrials, and Karen’s poised delivery of simple, repetitive lyrics.

“By the time she gets to the final “Turns me into someone new”, you’ve already long been vying to relocate to her and Danger Mouse’s intergalactic utopia.”

In other news, last month, Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ guitarist Nick Zinner joined Iggy Pop during his California’s No Values Festival set to play some Stooges rarities.
