With fans waiting for NCIS Season 22, actor Wilmer Valderrama has provided key updates for its story. He not only confirmed his return in his long-running role as Nick Torres but also teased what viewers should expect from the upcoming season.

NCIS Season 22 will be ’emotionally driven,’ says Wilmer Valderrama

Earlier this year, fans speculated over Katrina Law’s return as Jessica Knight in NCIS Season 22. While her involvement was confirmed by a few cast photos released later, fans continue to question the involvement of other members of the team following Season 21’s finale.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Wilmer Valderrama also gave an NCIS Season 22 update while discussing his memoir American Story: Everyone’s Invited. Talking about fans’ concerns over the show, he said:

“I think they always worry. The fans are so passionate about NCIS. I would say this: That in season 22, the contribution these writers have done to the show is just invaluable. We’re playing a lot more with personal journeys for our characters.”

Valderrama continued to describe Season 22’s narrative and character development saying:

“This season will be a little bit more humorous, definitely a lot more emotionally driven for our lead characters, and perhaps — perhaps — they’re going to be in major danger.”

When THR’s representative asked whether Nick Torres would return in Season 22, Valderrama added:

“Yeah, no. I’m OK. I’m in the season.”

In Season 22, fans will see Law’s Jessica Knight move to California to take on the new job she was offered in Season 21’s finale. With Knight gone, there will be a major shakeup for the team as Sean Murray’s McGee will apply for the deputy director’s position. Meanwhile, Valderrama’s Torres is expected to deal with more undercover cases.

New episodes of NCIS Season 22 will premiere on CBS on Monday, October 17 at 8 PM ET.
