The Last Dinner Party has postponed their show in Cardiff tonight (September 29) due to illness.

The 2024 Mercury Prize-nominated band are currently on a sold-out UK and Ireland headline tour in support of their debut album ‘Prelude To Ecstasy’, which was the biggest UK Number One debut album in nine years. They are set to follow it with a European tour later this year.

However, the band confirmed on their Instagram story that their show tonight at Cardiff Tramshed will not be going ahead. However, they did suggest the show will eventually take place at a future date.

“With great regret tonight’s performance at the Cardiff Tramshed is cancelled due to illness. We are truly sorry for those of you that were looking forward to the show” they wrote.

“Thank you for understanding, we appreciate you guys so much and we look forward to seeing you next time. Please keep a hold of your tickets and a further announcement will be made as soon as possible.”

The Last Dinner Party also called off their show at Lincoln’s Engine Shed last night (September 28) at short notice. Although their support acts performed, the venue later confirmed on social media that the show had to be pulled last minute “due to a band member falling ill”. They added that they were “working to confirm a new date”.

In other news, The Last Dinner Party recently spoke to NME at the 2024 Mercury Prize, and recalled how they managed to build a “sense of community” with their fans.

While on the red carpet for the event, bassist Georgia Davies and guitarist Emily Roberts caught up with NME, and explained what it was like to see their first record resonate with fans on such a vast scale.

“A lot of people seem to connect with the themes of the album,” Davies said when asked what they’re most proud of. “There are kids who were ostracised in school for their sexuality or the way that they presented [themselves] with their appearance or the music they were into. They now feel like they’ve found a sense of community in us.”

“That’s always a very beautiful and very moving thing to experience when people tell you [that],” she added. “It’s very emotional.”
