The prequel spin-off to a popular Western Hallmark series has received a Season 2 renewal. Meanwhile, the parent series premiered 12 years ago and has run for 13 seasons so far.

Hope Valley: 1874 renewed for Season 2 at Hallmark+

Hope Valley: 1874, the spin-off prequel to When Calls the Heart, streaming exclusively on Hallmark+, has been renewed for Season 2, which will drop in 2027. Like the previous installment, it will consist of eight episodes. Notably, the parent series, which airs on Hallmark in the US, is based on Janette Oke’s book of the same name.

The show takes place during the earliest days of the frontier settlement that eventually becomes Hope Valley or Coal Valley. It follows Rebecca Clarke, a widow who has an 11-year-old daughter, Sarah.

Wishing to escape the threat on her life in her home in Chicago and seeking a fresh start after her husband’s death, the former, along with the latter, moves to the Western Canadian frontier. On the way, her wagon breaks down, resulting in a chance meeting with local rancher, Tom Moore, who offers to help.

Despite facing some initial difficulty upon learning that the boarding house she purchased needs renovations, Clarke manages to settle in the town. In the process, she grows close to its community, including Moore, as well as Hattie Quinn and her daughter, Olivia, who manage the trading post.

Also playing key roles in the series are Constable Alexander Vaughn and Clayton Cooley, who ensure peace between ranchers and gold prospectors and harbor competing romantic feelings for Olivia.

Bethany Joy Lenz and Benjamin Ayres headline the show. The supporting cast includes Jill Hennessy, Roan Curtis, Lachlan Quarmby, Mila Morgan, and Jedidah Goodacre.

Brian Bird, Michael Landon Jr., Jimmy Townsend, Susie Belzberg, Amy Hartwick, Brad and Olivia Kevoy, Greg Malcolm, Alfonso Moreno, and Vicki Sotheran serve as executive producers. Melody Fox and Jennifer Siddle are consulting producers, while Elizabeth Stewart and Mike Rohl co-executive produce.
