Sam Worthington just proved that a box office disaster means nothing when streaming enters the chat. The Avatar star’s latest thriller bombed hard in theaters but now dominates one of the biggest streaming platforms in the country.
Sam Worthington’s Fuze is HBO Max’s No.1 streaming movie right now
Sam Worthington continues his strong streaming presence with the heist thriller Fuze. The David Mackenzie-directed film currently sits at No. 1 on HBO Max’s Top 10 movies chart in the United States, according to FlixPatrol. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Theo James and Gugu Mbatha-Raw also star in the British thriller.
Worthington previously dominated Netflix with the Harlan Coben adaptation I Will Find You. That limited series surged to the top of Netflix’s global charts with 24 million views in just four days after its June 18 premiere. It held the No. 1 spot on Netflix for multiple consecutive weeks and became the platform’s biggest new series debut of 2026.
Fuze centers on an unexploded World War II bomb discovered at a busy London construction site. A criminal operation uses the resulting mass citywide evacuation as cover for a heist. The film first premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 5, 2025.
The movie failed to connect with theatrical audiences earlier this year. Fuze opened to just over $1 million across 1,164 theaters domestically on April 24, 2026. It ended its run with $1.48 million domestically and $5.6 million worldwide against a reported $45 million budget.
HBO Max started streaming Fuze on September 4. The film now holds the No. 1 spot on the platform’s movies chart for two consecutive days. Practical Magic sits at No. 2 and Normal follows at No. 3 on the HBO Max rankings. Fuze also appears at No. 6 on the HBO Max Overall chart from Amazon Channels.
