What To Know
- Aneha Singh addressed backlash over her family’s absence from Love Is Blind.
- In a statement, she claimed that her family’s acceptance is not based on race or religion.
- She emphasized that conversations about culture with fiancé Cam Halloran were about mutual respect.
On Love Is Blind Season 11, Aneha Singh revealed that her family did not want to appear on the show and seemingly did not want to meet her fiancé, Cam Halloran. Now, she’s speaking out about discussions she had with Cam about race, religion, and more. “Those conversations were never about exclusion,” she said.
On October 22, the Love Is Blind star wrote, “I want to take a moment to clarify something that I feel has been misunderstood. My family and I have always been incredibly accepting of people from all walks of life, regardless of their race, religion, or cultural background. Cam being white or not being Hindu was never an issue for me or my family.”
During Episode 7 of the series, when asked by Cam, “Do you think it’s more like me being White or the religious thing?” Aneha responded, “You being White.” Since the episode aired on October 21, viewers have taken to her comments, which have since been limited, calling the conversation a “hard watch” and questioning the prejudice behind her statement.
Defending her mindset at the time, Aneha shared, “What I was navigating was something much more personal. My family has never met anyone I’ve dated, so the thought of introducing someone to them for the very first time was a significant milestone in my life. I have always been incredibly proud of my culture and heritage. It’s a beautiful part of who I am, and naturally, I’ve always hoped to find a partner who would not only respect it but embrace and appreciate it alongside me.”
She then spoke out about Cam, writing, “One of the things I value so much about Cam is how open and receptive he was to learning about my culture from the beginning. I cherish that. Navigating cultural traditions, family expectations, and personal relationships can be nuanced, especially when you’re trying to honor where you come from while also following your own heart. Those conversations were never about exclusion. They came from a place of love, respect, and wanting to bring two worlds together.”
Aneha concluded, “I understand that sharing my story on television opens me up to different interpretations and opinions. But I hope people can recognize that cultural pride does not equate to prejudice, and that navigating these conversations does not mean rejecting someone for being different.”
At this time, Cam has not commented on their relationship or Aneha’s statement. During an interview with Netflix, Aneha was asked why her family refused to meet Cam, to which she responded, “I don’t really like sharing stuff specifically about my family necessarily because it’s their business.”
