CNN’s Jake Tapper shared where we can expect to see races called early and what those results can tell us about where the country may be headed overall.

Tapper shared that the first polls close in Kentucky and Indiana at 6 p.m. Eastern time, and that a few tight races in those states “could give us a clue about the national mood.”

A close race in Kentucky’s 6th Congressional district, he said, features Democrat Zach Dembo and Republican Ralph Alvarado. Tapper said the district is usually reliably red, but has become competitive this cycle.

If Dembo does well, it could “portend a good night for Democrats,” Tapper said, adding that results in Indiana’s 1st and 5th Congressional districts may also indicate where the night is going.

“So, there will be clues early on,” he concluded.
