Single Review: Baker Grace “Painkiller”

Music

Baker Grace writes very personal, self-intimate songs about her life observations and her new release “Painkiller” seems to be one of them. Her unique vocals and emotional style makes the listener appreciate her and her words even more.

In her own words she states “I wrote “Painkiller” after experiencing nightlife in NYC for the first time. I was going out these places where people were spending 1000 dollars on one bottle of alcohol at the same time I was going to yoga, therapy and meditation classes, learning what it means to grow love and happiness from within. The juxtaposition was fascinating to me. It solidified the idea that life’s only true painkiller is finding peace in your mind. Being present, loving and accepting yourself, and practicing gratitude is worth more than gold in my humble opinion. In “Painkiller”, I personify happiness in its most genuine form and it’s sensual, sexy and flaming with confidence.”……Baker Grace

The video that accompanies the song is a salacious work of art, almost like a short film as many of her videos are. The world is full of love that goes unspoken. It doesn’t mean that it’s felt less deeply or leaves a cleaner wound. Its beauty and pain are in silence. And in Baker’s song there is silence at the end of every note leaving the listener to interpret their own personal feelings about love and self-love. Sometimes it takes a long time to find a portal to happiness.

Baker’s last release “American Dream Girl” went viral all over the planet as an anthemic jubilation for girls everywhere who succumbed to societies demand for fake beauty. “Painkiller” is just as deep and intense. The 23 year old Baker Grace knows her craft and knows herself well. Her certainty and individuality is present in every piece of music she writes. She makes each of her songs a memory and makes sure they are all worth listening to time and time again…..
