Maggie Gyllenhaal’s upcoming Frankenstein movie, which is being led by Christian Bale, has gotten a title and a release date.

A press release from Warner Bros. revealed that the film is called The Bride! and that it is set to release on October 3, 2025 in IMAX. In addition to Bale, The Bride! stars Jessie Buckley, Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, and Penelope Cruz.

Gyllenhaal is writing and directing the picture, as well as producing. Other producers include Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Talia Kleinhendler, and Osnat Handelsman-Keren. It was reported earlier in the year that production on the film was set to start this month in New York City.

This is only one of several pieces of news to come from Warner Bros. today. Another major update saw the upcoming DC superhero sequel The Batman: Part II get hit with a lengthy delay, pushing the Robert Pattinson movie out of 2025.

What sort of movie will The Bride! be?

Described as a horror thriller, The Bride will be directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, based on Mary Shelley’s classic gothic novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus. This marks Gyllenhaal’s second directorial project following 2021’s The Lost Daughter, which earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
