- Melissa McCarthy is in talks for new thriller ‘Turpentine’.
- ‘Heated Rivalry’s Connor Storrie may also join the cast.
- ‘The Penguin’s Craig Zobel is in the director’s chair.
She might be better known for her comedy roles, but Melissa McCarthy has long proved she can handle drama (her Oscar nomination for ‘Can You Ever Forgive Me’? is among the evidence for that).
Per Deadline, she’s now circling one of the leads in ‘Compliance’ director Craig Zobel’s new thriller, ‘Turpentine’ which counts ‘Knives Out’ filmmaker Rian Johnson among its producers via his T-Street company.
And that’s not all on the potential casting front: Connor Storrie, who has seen his star soar thanks to the steamy hockey romance series ‘Heated Rivalry’, is also considering one of the main roles.
What’s the story of ‘Turpentine’?

The movie will be drawn from Justin Varava’s 2024 Black List script, and follows a deadbeat son who hires friends to rob his own parents to pay off a bookie, with disastrous results.
Where else can we see Melissa McCarthy?
McCarthy next will be seen starring opposite Clive Owen in ‘Unspeakable: The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey’ on Paramount+, and she’ll also be heard voicing a lead role opposite Cole Escola in Warner Bros. Pictures Animation’s ‘Margie Claus’.
