What To Know
- The Vampire Lestat continues to release new singles accompanied by in-character statements from Lestat (Sam Reid) mocking composer Daniel Hart.

- Interview With the Vampire Season 3, retitled The Vampire Lestat, premieres June 7 on AMC.
The vampire Lestat is dragging his new song in the press (again). The immortal rock star has been issuing insulting statements with nearly every song release from The Vampire Lestat, leading up to the one-night-only concert on June 2. And in his latest statement, he’s making fun of composer Daniel Hart’s music on the AMC series and in the new film Mother Mary starring Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel.
Interview With the Vampire becomes The Vampire Lestat in Season 3, premiering Sunday, June 7, on AMC. The new season tells Lestat’s (Sam Reid) backstory while he’s on the road with his band, which shares the show’s new title.
Reid recorded a handful of songs for the series (and he performed the songs live during filming of the show, he previously told TV Insider). The first single was “Long Face,” followed by “All Fall Down” (the show’s theme song) and a cover of Billy Idol‘s “Dancing With Myself.”
The “Long Face” and “All Fall Down” drops featured b*tchy, in-character statements from Lestat, not Reid. They’ve always been in response to a glowing statement from Hart. Here’s the latest rendition for the new single, “Butterscotch Bitch” (listen to the song here, or hear a snippet of it in the video teaser above).
AMC
“’Butterscotch B*tch’ is, I hope, the song that feels the most like Lestat, as it’s the song I wrote with the most knowledge of Lestat under my belt to date,” says Hart. “And why not end the songwriting with a song that Lestat wrote about himself? He is, after all, The Lestat-iest Lestat that’s ever Lestat-ed.”
Says the Vampire Lestat: “‘Butterscotch B*tch’ is, I hope, the song that feels the most like Daniel Hart, as it’s the song he wrote on a toilet in between vegan burritos and sessions for his Mother Mary score. May it find a home on Anne Hathaway’s rescue dog grooming playlist.”
It’s so nice to see these two getting along.
In the new rock and roll-centric season, the Vampire Lestat goes on an electric multi-city tour while being haunted by “muses” from his wild and rebellious past. As his band’s popularity and star power rise, so does Lestat’s influence over vampires and humans alike, leaving others to contend with Lestat’s power in the face of the Great Conversion, an unnatural surge in the vampire population.
In addition to Reid, The Vampire Lestat stars Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, Delainey Hayles, and Jennifer Ehle, and is executive produced by award-winning producer Mark Johnson, creator, writer, and showrunner Rolin Jones, Hannah Moscovitch, along with Christopher Rice and the late Anne Rice.
The Vampire Lestat, Premieres Sunday, June 7, 9/8c, AMC, Streaming on AMC+
