What To Know

  • Hannah Harper and Jordan McCullough finished in first and second place, respectively, on Season 24 of American Idol.
  • McCullough supported Harper as she made her Grand Ole Opry debut in Nashville three weeks after the finale.
  • The runner-up will make his own Opry debut later this month.

Hannah Harper had a very special guest in attendance when she made her Grand Ole Opry debut on June 2: fellow American Idol finalist Jordan McCullough! Three weeks after the pair finished in first and second place on Season 24 of the singing competition, they reunited in Nashville.

Carrie Underwood also played on the night of Harper’s June 2 debut, and she was the one who shared photos of the finalists’ sweet reunion. “So proud of these 2!” she captioned a photo of herself with the rising stars on her Instagram Story. McCullough reposted the image and wrote, “Forever grateful for you!!”

During Harper’s Opry debut, she got to share a special moment with Underwood on stage when they performed Harper’s original song “String Cheese” together. It was the song she auditioned for American Idol with, and Underwood connected to the lyrics right away, so it was a full-circle performance.

Meanwhile, McCullough will get to make his own Opry debut later this month on June 18.

The worship leader recently told TV Insider that he’s excited to get to work on new music and that he was writing during his time in Los Angeles for Idol. After having previously auditioned for The Voice and getting no chairs to turn around, getting to this point has been a long time coming for McCullough.

“I think the first time [on The Voice], I was just trying to prove myself, prove myself worthy of being in that room,” he shared. “This time, you’re either going to love it or not, and I don’t have to prove nothing to nobody. I know the Lord loves me, and I love him, and he made this opportunity, so I’m just going to walk in it.”

As for Harper, the Opry performance was just the beginning of months on the road, as she’ll be touring all summer and fall. Both McCullough and Harper will also be part of a pre-CMA Fest performance with fellow Idol alum in Nashville on June 3.
