HGTV star Jasmine Roth shared an extra sweet three-part video on Thursday (June 18) to reveal the gender of her third child.
Taking to Instagram, the 41-year-old Help! I Wrecked My House host posted a video detailing the rules of “cupcake roulette.” Joined by friends and family, Roth explained that each of them would line up and take a bite out of a cupcake, only one of which contained pink or blue filling.
Across the three videos, several friends and family members took turns biting the cupcakes. The anticipation grew as each bite came up empty. “Omg! I’m seating [sic] on the edge of my seat just waiting,” wrote one commenter, while another added, “I’ve been on pins and needles since yesterday!!!”
Eventually, it came down to just the Roth family, and it was the older daughter, Hazel, who had the lucky cupcake. “I got it, I got the gender!” she shouted excitedly before revealing the pink filling, confirming her mom and dad were welcoming another baby girl.
“Three girls! Oh my goodness,” Roth said before leading the group in a chant of, “Girl gang! Girl gang!”
Roth, who already shares two daughters, Hazel and Darla, with her husband, Brett Roth, first revealed she was pregnant again last month. In a follow-up post to the gender reveal, the home renovation designer shared her “honest opinion” about getting pregnant in her 40s.
“First a little backstory: We’re pregnant! Yay! This is our third baby and I’m 41. Never in a million years did I think I would be pregnant at 41,” she shared in a carousel of posts. “For generations, my family has always had kids young and for a long time I assumed my time to have kids had passed me by.”
Roth said that she and Brett had been together for two decades and spent many of those years focusing on their “friends, family, careers, and “traveling” while waiting “until the time felt right to have kids.” She admitted it “wasn’t always easy,” but she is glad she “listened to her own biological clock.”
She continued, “I think one of the hardest parts of being pregnant at age 41 is not listening to the people around you who had their children younger and think that’s the only way to do it. Marching to your own drum is never easy and this is such a personal decision, it takes a lot of mental fortitude to keep your confidence and not start doubting yourself.”
Roth also touched on the gender reveal, saying, “It was so special because it wasn’t just us finding out as parents — our girls got to find out too! I loved sharing this moment with our family, instead of in the hospital. Their excitement has been one of the most incredible parts of this pregnancy thus far.”
