Stassi Schroeder is stepping into a new era on her own show, House of Stassi, but she’ll never forget that Vanderpump Rules is where she got her start. She was one of the show’s original cast members alongside Jax Taylor, Tom Sandoval, Kristen Doute, Katie Maloney, Scheana Shay, and Tom Schwartz.
Maloney also stars on House of Stassi after the former friends patched up a secret, yearslong falling out. Viewers will see the ladies work through their issues on the Freeform/Hulu series.
However, aside from Maloney and Lisa Vanderpump, Schroder says the only other Vanderpump Rules cast member whom she talks to these days is Schwartz. “He’s easy and he just pops in and out of wherever, whatever,” she tells TV Insider. “He’s just an easy one. I love him. The others, if I saw them, if we ran into each other at a party, we would all be polite and nice and exchange pleasantries, but I don’t really keep in touch with anyone.”
She did have sympathy for a situation Doute recently went through on The Valley, though, when a fan tried to take photos of her changing her newborn baby in an airport bathroom. “I saw the clip on that and that broke my f**king heart,” Stassi admits. “That broke my heart. Every woman who’s had kids knows what it’s like to be postpartum and to feel just so many feelings at once, but so out of control. And then to have somebody recording your baby in a place where all of it … I felt so horrible for her.”

Regarding her reconciliation with Maloney, Schoeder says, “It’s not that we started rebuilding our friendship over the past year before filming. It’s just … we would make it a point to be there to support each other for certain things. When [her] sandwich shop opened, I wanted to be there for her for that, then I also wanted her to have a relationship with [my daughter] Hartford. So we would facilitate these different moments where we were with each other, but we never fully talked anything out.”
The reality star adds, “There was always just this big thing” that kept her and Maloney from getting close again. “When we were about to start filming, we were going over everybody that was on [the show], that was at the test shoot, and all that stuff and where I was with everyone in my life. And Katie just kept popping up in my head because I wanted to have that conversation with her,” she explains. “I wanted to be closer to her. And this felt like the catalyst to get me to do that, as crazy as that sounds. But we both spent the majority of our adult life together on this show and it felt right and it almost felt written in the stars and destiny that we were supposed to come back together like this.”
Schroeder feels “great” about where things stand with Maloney now. “Honestly, everything that’s out there, even with my husband, even with Beau, I feel great because it goes back to … you’re constantly having to talk through things. So, yeah, you get in fights and arguments with your loved ones, but then you figure it out and then I feel closer to that person. I see the argument that reality TV causes problems, but it also fixes problems.”
