Fiddlehead and Walter Schreifels joined forces to cover Sick Of It All‘s ‘It’s Clobberin’ Time’ in tribute to the late Lou Koller – check it out below.

Last week, (July 24), it was announced that Koller, the frontman and co-founder of the New York hardcore band, had died at the age of 59, two years after he was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma, a form of oesophageal cancer, in 2024.

On Friday night (July 31), Fiddlehead played The Warsaw in Brooklyn, and were joined by Quicksand‘s Walter Schreifels to play a cover of 1995’s ‘Live in a World Full of Hate’ track ‘It’s Clobberin’ Time’.

Before launching into the song, Schreifels reflected on Koller’s influence, telling the crowd: “I was never not star-stuck by his presence and what he did with music.

“With Sick Of It All, he spread hardcore around the world. If it wasn’t for Lou, we wouldn’t be enjoying this beautiful scene we have. He really fucking built that shit for us.”

When news of Koller’s passing emerged, tributes poured in from across the hardcore scene and wider music world. Sharing news with fans on social media, Sick Of It All said the level of loss they felt was “overwhelming”.

“This year would have marked Sick Of It All’s 40th anniversary as a band, and Lou’s camaraderie, commitment and enthusiasm were always steadfast throughout the years,” they wrote. “We have lost a beloved friend and an iconic frontman.

“Lou had the power to raise everyone’s spirits at our shows with a smile and a sarcastic comment, and he won people over wherever we played, from every culture and every corner of the world.”

The band also thanked those who had contributed to Koller’s medical fund during his illness. “You all helped Lou feel very special and very loved as he battled away these last two years,” they said.

“His battle is over now and he can finally rest. Hopefully he can somehow still see and feel the beautiful, positive mark he left on the world.”

Koller first disclosed his diagnosis in June 2024, when Sick Of It All cancelled a run of European dates so he could undergo treatment.
