Galway Girls, Gays and Theys took to the streets this weekend in celebration.
What started with 15 people in Eyre Square in 1989 is now Ireland’s longest continually running Pride festival, welcoming hundreds of visitors to its fourth-largest city every year.
Under the theme of “Still We Rise,” the festival featured the Phoenix as its visual symbol.
“Just as the mythical bird is reborn from its own ashes, we too emerge from periods of darkness renewed and resilient,” according to the Pride organizers.

The weeklong events included a LipSync Battle, Queer Studies Symposium, Trans Night and Queer Latinx Party, before culminating in the Pride Parade on Saturday, August 8.
GayCities had a front row seat to the fabulous people celebrating Galway Community Pride.
