Dune: Part 3 has dropped its new teaser trailer. The third installment is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026, and has dropped a new 33-second teaser to provide an important update for fans.
Fans can watch the film four days before its release. Dune: Part 3 will hit selected IMAX 70mm theaters on December 14 across the US and Canada. The newly released trailer has also announced that tickets are already on sale.
Alongside the December 14 screenings, the film will be available for early showtimes on December 15 in all IMAX theaters. From December 17, regular screenings will begin at 2 pm local time. The film has been exclusively filmed for premium IMAX screens.
It’s the only film in the Dune franchise that has been shot with both IMAX-certified digital cameras and IMAX film cameras. Additionally, Dune: Part Three also has a special sound mix curated specifically for IMAX theaters. The advanced IMAX Keighley Film Camera was used to improve image quality further.

Why Dune: Part Three could be Villeneuve’s most ambitious IMAX experience yet
The movie, based on Frank Herbert’s novel, has been directed by Dennis Villeneuve. The Canadian film director and screenwriter has personally commented that the film was “dreamed, designed and shot” for IMAX theaters. While he has shot the first two parts of the franchise, Dune: Part One (2021) and Dune: Part Two (2024), the director has collaborated with IMAX and worked closely with the team to create the upcoming film. He tested cameras and also conducted reviews at IMAX headquarters to ensure the film attains the best possible quality.
The synopsis of the film, per IMDb, reads, “Emperor Paul Atreides faces the fallout from his ascent to power as political plots and a galaxy-wide holy war endanger the future only he can see.”
The cast of the 140-minute film features Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Isaach De Bankolé, Charlotte Rampling, Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert Pattinson, Javier Bardem, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, and Ida Brooke.
