Don’t worry, Big Brother fans, Julie Chen Moonves isn’t going anywhere. But the host discussed who she would love to see replace her if the time ever came for her to leave the CBS show.
As Big Brother approaches its 30th season in two years, Chen Moonves is looking towards the future. Fans have speculated that Season 24 winner Taylor Hale would take on the hosting duties if Chen Moonves ever decides to retire.
“I’ve wondered that too because, to me, she would be perfect,” she told Variety. Hale hosts Big Brother: Unlocked with Season 16 winner Derrick Levasseur and superfan and actor Jerry O’Connell. She once filled in for Chen Moonves when she had to sit out of a live episode due to being ill. Hale also serves as a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight, so she has on-air skills.
Talking with Variety about the reality show’s 1,000th episode, Chen Moonves shared that despite other hosts being involved in the creative processes and producing, that is not her lane. “I might suggest things, like ideas, when we’ve had Celebrity Big Brother. I like just being the host and not having that pressure of having to do creative or the casting,” she told the outlet.

Chen Moonves also pitched Levasseur as a possible replacement. The former detective hosts a few podcasts and produces true crime shows.
Jeff Schroeder and Jordan Lloyd from Seasons 11 and 13 were the hosts’ next picks. Schroeder and Lloyd met and fell in love on Season 11. They are currently married and have two sons together. The couple also competed on Season 16 of The Amazing Race.
Schroeder used to host Daily Blast Live and Great Day Colorado, so he also has on-air hosting skills. Together, Jeff and Jordan host a Big Brother podcast.
However, in 2025, Chen Moonves also told us that she would love it if her son eventually took over duties from her. “I told my 15-year-old son I am hosting until I think he can take over for me! That would be funny. Our family’s little brother taking over Big Brother,” she said.
With the producers sharing that the twist for the 1,000th episode has never been done before, could one of the alums mentioned serve in Chen Moonves’ spot? It is a live show with an eviction, after all.
