O.J.’s Unseen Debacle, ‘Office’ Fandom, ‘Sunny’s Renaissance Faire, America’s Tailgate

File this under “Worst Ideas Ever.” A four-part docuseries (concluding Tuesday at 9/8c) exhumes unseen footage from an ill-conceived hidden-camera prank series in 2006 that starred O.J. Simpson, an attempt to cash in on his notoriety from his infamous murder trial a decade earlier. The show, titled Juiced, featured the ex-athlete in tasteless stunts that would end with Simpson shouting, “You’ve been juiced!” When word leaked of the show’s development, backlash kept even the most shameless networks from buying the show, which ended up as a Pay-Per-View special. Unseen features interviews with the show’s producers and crew and excerpts from interviews with Simpson, who had hoped to restore his reputation. No such luck.

More than 10 years after the show ended in 2013, the affection for the workplace mockumentary (adapted from Ricky Gervais‘s British original) is undimmed, with new generations embracing The Office in syndication and streaming (on Peacock). A six-part docuseries celebrates the fandom while tracing the history of the series, featuring interviews with executives, creators, cast members, and famous fans, including Seth Rogen, who auditioned for the part of Dwight. The timing is strategic, with the second season of the Office spinoff The Paper dropping Wednesday on Peacock.

The gang goes medieval with predictably chaotic results when they visit a Renaissance Faire situated perilously close to the airport. (“Hold for dragon!” is a constant refrain.) While Dennis (Glenn Howerton) hopes to score with the local wenches and Charlie (Charlie Day) picks up the lute (aka “avocado guitar”), Mac (Rob Mac) aims to be recognized on the Quilt of Legends, and Frank (Danny DeVito) tangles with the McPoyle clan, including patriarch Pappy (Guillermo del Toro!) and the combative Liam (Jimmi Simpson, who’s seemingly everywhere including Dark Matter and The Walking Dead: Dead City).

Football season is upon us, and CBS gets the party started early with a fan celebration from Nashville, hosted by CBS Mornings and The NFL Today‘s Nate Burleson with CBS Sports’ Melanie Collins. John Legend and Sheryl Crow are among the performers, along with Gabby Barrett and Chase Rice, with appearances by NFL MVP Josh Allen and Burleson’s NFL Today colleagues Kyle Long and Russell Wilson. Tailgate fan events include outdoor cooking segments with chef Keith Corbin and skills challenges from Canadian flag football gold medalists Sara Parker and Caro Moquin-Joubert.

Anderson Cooper reports a special installment on “Nepal’s Deadly Floods,” observing firsthand the rescue efforts following the devastating flooding as teams search for survivors, including workers who may be trapped in hydropower tunnels amid the mud and debris. The hourlong report explores the dangers facing Nepal and Himalayan communities with unstable glaciers and high-altitude settlements.

• Alice (5 am/4c, Antenna TV): On Labor Day, kick back and enjoy an 18-hour marathon of the sitcom, marking its 50th anniversary, starring Linda Lavin as the hard-working waitress at Mel’s Diner.
• Entertainment Tonight (syndicated, check local listings): A special ET Vault Unlocked special celebrates the 60th anniversary of Star Trek, featuring archival interviews with Trek creator Gene Roddenberry and cast members from the ever-expanding franchise and behind-the-scenes footage from the many series and movies.

• Top of the World (8/7c, CNN): A documentary explores the history of Windows on the World, the celebrated restaurant atop the World Trade Center that was destroyed in the 9/11 attacks 25 years ago, killing 79 employees and 91 guests that infamous morning.
• The Hooters Murders: Deadly Shift (8/7c, Oxygen): A two-hour true-crime documentary explores a trend of murders across a decade and spanning thousands of miles in which Hooters employees were preyed upon.
• The Librarians: The Next Chapter (9/8c, TNT): Merlin (Dominic Monaghan) causes chaos in the fantasy adventure’s Season 2 finale when the wizard returns to Camelot, and the team rallies to stop him from collapsing time.
• Remake (10/9c, PBS): POV presents a poignant documentary by filmmaker Ross McElwee (Sherman’s March), reflecting on the loss of his son Adrian amid the opioid crisis.

ON THE STREAM:

• Futurama (streaming on Hulu): Leela is inconsolable when her adorably ravenous pet Lord Nibbler is sent on a mission to observe, and be swallowed by, a collapsing universe. Star Trek‘s George Takei appears in a cameo (as his disembodied head).
• The Sommerdahl Murders (streaming on Acorn TV): The Danish-set procedural returns for a seventh season, with DCI Dan Sommerdahl (Peter Mygind) assessing the damage his job has done to his marriage to Marianne (Laura Drasbæk), a criminal technician who’s asking for a divorce.
