The Covenant is now streaming on Peacock. Directed by Renny Harlin, the 2006 film stars Stan alongside Steven Strait, Taylor Kitsch, Toby Hemingway, Chace Crawford, Laura Ramsey, and Jessica Lucas. Sebastian Stan leads a supernatural battle in The Covenant
The film follows Caleb Danvers, Pogue Parry, Reid Garwin, and Tyler Simms, four students at Spenser Academy who inherit supernatural abilities passed down through their families through generations. The students are the members of the Sons of Ipswich, a secretive group connected to the town’s supernatural past. Caleb and his friends have learned to live with their abilities while keeping them hidden from the rest of the school.
Their situation changes when Chase Collins, portrayed by Sebastian Stan, arrives at Spenser Academy. His arrival becomes important as it coincides with a student’s death under mysterious circumstances. Caleb soon discovers that Chase has a connection to the history their families share. As Collins becomes increasingly interested in supernatural power, Caleb and his friends face a growing threat. The film establishes that using the special abilities comes with consequences, making control an important part of their struggle.
J. S. Cardone wrote The Covenant, while Lakeshore Entertainment, Sandstorm Films, and Screen Gems produced the film. It hit theaters on September 8, 2006, with a runtime of 97 minutes and eventually grossed more than $37 million worldwide. Although the film received mostly negative reviews from critics at the time, its cast has since gained widespread recognition.
With The Covenant now available on Peacock, viewers can revisit Stan’s early role as Chase alongside Kitsch, years before both actors took on prominent comic book roles.
