Christian YouTuber Gabe Poirot claimed to have met a very manly Jesus in heaven during his 18-day coma following his near-death skateboarding accident in 2021. He spoke to Fox News about the alleged meeting last March, and clips from that interview have begun recirculating on social media, especially his claim that Jesus is not “soft,” “passive,” or “tolerant” as he has been “misrepresented” in America.
Poirot spoke with Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany on the program Saturday in America to promote his memoir, 18 Days in Heaven: I Left My Body. I Met Jesus. What He Told Me Will Alter Your Eternity. In the book, he mentions the traumatic brain injury he experienced after riding an electric skateboard at about 30 miles per hour without a helmet. He hit a bump, cracked his skull on the pavement, and entered an 18-day coma.

McEnany said Poirot came “face-to-face” with Jesus, and Poirot mentioned that, in other people’s testimonies, Jesus is always male.
“They didn’t meet a female Jesus. They didn’t meet a soft or a passive Jesus. Jesus is a man,” he told McEnany. “And especially in America, he’s been misrepresented…. There’s so many cultural things that present him as if he’s just some tolerant guy. It’s not the Jesus I met. He’s a lion, but he’s not a lion angry against me, he’s a lion angry for me. He’s a mustang on my behalf. He did it all for me.”

Poirot then said that Jesus looked like “pure fire,” adding that he “was 5’11”, like six feet, yet as tall as eternity. Like an ocean of love, yet his eyes were burning white and red at the same time…. talk about testosterone! Like a mustang. I’m telling you, he’s the lion of Judah, and there’s a roar within his voice.”
The satirical social media account Christian Nightmares reposted Poirot’s interview on Monday alongside the comment, “Apparently, this guy met Manly MAGA Jesus in Heaven.”
In response to the post, Poirot told Newsweek, “The ‘MAGA Jesus’ characterization doesn’t reflect what I said. I have never claimed Jesus is MAGA. In the interview, I described Jesus as the Lion [of the tribe of Judah] [Revelation 5:5], speaking to His strength, love, authority, courage, and meekness.”
While Poirot doesn’t characterize Jesus as being MAGA, he himself has aligned with MAGA political forces. In addition to speaking to the right-wing Fox News network, he has also spoken on the broadcast of the now-deceased MAGA influencer Charlie Kirk, and other right-wing and Christian conservative podcasters.
Poirot has over 2.2 million YouTube subscribers, over 316,000 Facebook followers, and over 110,000 Instagram followers.
He has also posted anti-LGBTQ+ Facebook messages. In a July 24 post noting the US Supreme Court decision allowing religious parents to opt-out of LGBTQ+-inclusive school lessons, Poirot wrote, “These lessons shouldn’t be taught to any children. School is for math, English, history, & science. Why do schools need to push sexuality on kids?”
In a July 20 post, he praised a father for confronting a “Woke School Board for allowing men in girls restrooms,” referring to schools that have trans-inclusive student policies. In September 2025, he praised an “ex-trans, ex-leftist who got [her] first MAGA hat at a Charlie Kirk event.”
Most of his other social media posts highlight Christians’ religious visions during near-death experiences (NDEs), kids allegedly rescued from child sex trafficking rings, and stories of Christians publicly sharing their faith.
Poirot isn’t the first Christian to have claimed he met Jesus after an NDE. Christian religious scholar Dr. J. Steve Miller claimed that 20% of people who have undergone NDEs have reported seeing Jesus, but it’s unclear where Miller got that statistic.
