Another Bachelor Nation couple bites the dust. In a surprising turn, The Golden Bachelor Season 2 winner Peg Munson announced her split from Mel Owens. On October 21, Munson posted a video addressing the breakup and how she’s doing today.

First, Munson apologized for not speaking out sooner about the end of her relationship with Owens. She admitted that “it’s been a really difficult 30 days for me.”

She continued, “As a lot of you guys know, I went on The Golden Bachelor hoping to find love, and I did, and you know, for that I’m grateful. I did have to make the difficult decision to step away from the relationship, and sometimes even when there’s love, it just doesn’t turn out the way that we hoped. So right now, I’m just focusing on healing my heart and just focusing on myself, my health, and looking forward to the next chapter.”

Munson closed out her Instagram announcement video with, “I really do just really wish Mel the best of luck, and I’m very grateful for the experience. I’m grateful for the memories, and most of all, I’m grateful for you guys along this journey with me, and all the wonderful DMs that I’ve been getting, and all the messages that I’ve been getting, and just all the kind words of love and support.” Owens has yet to address the split.

Owens and Munson met during Season 2 of The Golden Bachelor. They didn’t get engaged at the end of the season, which aired in November 2025, but Owens did give Munson a ring that symbolized their commitment to each other.

“I have a ring. This represents our commitment to love, to give us time to figure out, together, what our future holds,” Mel said when he presented Peg with the jewelry. She replied, “I agree. I think it would be absolutely wonderful. We’re on the same page with that.” When Munson appeared on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast in September 2026, she revealed that she was not ready to get engaged.

Munson captioned her split video, “Sometimes love is real, but the outcome isn’t what you hoped for.  I’m incredibly grateful for this journey, the memories, and the overwhelming love and support you’ve shown me. Right now, I’m taking time to heal, focus on my health, and embrace the next chapter of my life. Thank you for standing beside me this past year . Your kindness means more than you know. This is not the end of my story. It’s the beginning of a new chapter.”
