Liberals are cheering Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) for her response to a question about JD Vance.
Outside the Capitol this week, a reporter asked her: “JD Vance just said in an interview that he thinks you are going to be the leading Democratic candidate for president in 2028. What’s your response to that?”

“I mean, um…” Ocasio-Cortez responded, seemingly finding humor in the question. Then she summed up her take in four words: “I hope he is.”
The reporter was referring to comments Vance made on The Michael Knowles Show earlier this week. Michael Knowles, the host, is an anti-LGBTQ+ Daily Wire pundit who has called for the eradication of transgender people.

“I think it’s got to be AOC,” Vance said in that interview. “I know that’s probably conventional wisdom.”
On X, people understood Ocasio-Cortez’s response as a taunt, implying that she wants Vance to be the GOP candidate since she believes he is likely to lose.
