Taylor Sheridan doesn’t always star in his own projects, but when he does, he makes sure to give himself a memorable role. Such is the case with Lioness and his recurring part as Cody Spears, the Delta Force leader who assisted the CIA’s Lioness program during Season 2’s mission to rescue a kidnapped Congresswoman and, later, to infiltrate the cartel. Cody is a skilled marksman who isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty, and it looks like his particular talents will come into play in Season 3 as well, as he can be seen in the trailer leading the team to “execute” a grueling ground mission.
One has to imagine that it’d be a particularly tough day at the office for the stars of the show to share the screen with their series’ creator and script writer, so TV Insider caught up with key members of the cast to find out.
“I think it’s an honor because he loves this show so much, and he plays Cody to perfection,” Jill Wagner, who plays the rough-and-tumble soldier Bobby, said of the experience. “I don’t think there’s anybody else that should ever play Cody.”

Laysla De Oliveira, who plays Cruz, added, “It’s so fun to play with him as an actor. Anytime you have someone who creates the show, who’s your boss, and then all of sudden, now you have a pure actor-to-actor relationship [it’s great].”
Oliveira added, “He likes being an actor.”
“When he’s playing Cody, he sits in the actor chair beside the actors,” Oliveira then explained. “You think he would go and sit with the director. When he’s being an actor, he wants to be an actor that day. There’s even been days where I ask him questions, and he goes, ‘I’m not the director today!’ He really enjoys it, and it’s really beautiful seeing his joy in that space.”
