Up to 14 people have been hospitalised at a Chainsmokers concert in California.

Emergency crews responded to a wave of medical calls at the outdoor show at Discovery Meadow in San Jose on Friday night (September 4)

The San Jose Fire Department wrote on X that that they responded to over a dozen calls for assistance stating that multiple attendees needed medical attention.

“At 8:22 p.m. on Friday, September 4, the San José Fire Department responded to an outdoor concert at Discovery Meadow for reports of multiple patients requiring medical attention,” they wrote.

“SJFD immediately requested an Ambulance Task Force, two additional advanced life support fire units, and a Battalion Chief to manage the incident and provide additional medical resources. A total of 14 ambulances responded, and 14 patients were transported to local hospitals.”

Authorities did not disclose the condition of those hospitalised or stated whether the incident shared a single cause. San Jose police did though tell NBC Bay Area that concertgoers were treated for “suspected alcohol intoxication and drug-related issues.” No arrests have been reported in connection with the incidents.

The Chainsmokers are yet to comment publicly on the incident. The duo continued with their US tour the following night (September 5) at the Encore Beach Club in Las Vegas.

The duo also recently performed at the Chicago leg of Lollapalooza 2026 alongside Olivia DeanCharli xcxTate McRaeLorde, The xx, John SummitJennie and The Smashing Pumpkins.

The festival has been going since 1991, when it was created as a farewell tour by Perry Farrell of Jane’s Addiction. Chicago has been its permanent location since 2005, while it has expanded with branches of the festival in countries including Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Germany in recent years.

Elsewhere, earlier this year, EsDeeKid called out The Chainsmokers for releasing an unauthorised remix of ‘4 Raws’.

They previously released other unauthorised remixes, including reworkings of Charli XCX’s ‘party 4 u,’ Chappell Roan’s ‘Pink Pony Club’, Gracie Abrams’ ‘That’s So True’ and Sombr‘s ‘Back To Friends’.
