Though he’s only just added Dancing With the Stars guest judge to his resume, Joe Buck has worn many hats throughout his career. Over the past two decades, Buck has become a household name as ESPN’s Monday Night Football announcer — hence his involvement in the first-ever “Super Bowl Night” on DWTS — and he’s also worked in baseball and golf broadcasting.
It turns out his wife is just as sports-minded as he is. Buck is married to Michelle Beisner-Buck, an ESPN reporter who was once a Denver Broncos cheerleader, and there’s a funny story about how they first started dating. As he turns his commentating expertise to the ballroom, get the full rundown on Buck’s love life and family below.
Who is Joe Buck’s wife?
Beisner is currently an NFL features reporter for ESPN, having joined the network in 2014. She’s written numerous player profiles and other NFL feature stories, per her ESPN bio. Before that gig, Beisner was a studio host and field reporter for the NFL Network from 2006 to 2014. Beisner co-hosted ESPN’s The Russo and Steele Automotive Auctions and was a reporter for the Champ Car World Series.
Before working in journalism, Beisner was an actor and dancer. From 1997 to 2003, she was a member of the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders, serving as a captain for five of those years. Beisner and her husband live in St. Louis.
Buck was previously married to Ann Archambault from 1993 to 2011. They have two daughters, Natalie and Trudy.
How did Joe Buck and Michelle Beisner meet?
Buck recalled meeting his wife for the first time on The Pivot podcast. “When I saw her, she was working for the NFL Network at the time and was standing against a wall, and I was walking out of Mile High Stadium, and I saw her and I was like, ‘Mmm. I think I’m gonna stalk that person,’ and I did.”
He asked his friend and fellow sports commentator, Rich Eisen, about Beisner. “He’s like, ‘Well, I think she’s got a boyfriend,’ Buck recalled. “I was like, ‘I’m not worried about that,’ which is very unlike me because I do not have confidence in that category at all. Eventually, he kind of played matchmaker.”
Eisen played a game with Beisner, telling her that somebody in the booth wanted her number. “And she’s like, ‘OK, who is it? Let’s play the game. Troy Aikman?’ She went through everybody… Like, she got to Al Michaels. She’s like, ‘Well, please don’t tell me it’s Joe Buck.’”
When Eisen wondered why she said that, Beisner answered, “‘You know what, I don’t know. I just know that I saw him in a commercial and he looks like a smug a**hole.’”
Eisen told her that wasn’t the case and encouraged her to talk to him, and the rest is history. Don’t judge a book by its commercial, it turns out.
Beisner “opened [his] eyes” to getting remarried. “It was probably the last thing I thought I was going to do again and the first thing I’m glad I did do again,” Buck said on The Pivot podcast. The NFL power couple wed on April 12, 2014, after getting engaged the previous August.
Does Joe Buck have kids?
Buck has two children from his previous marriage, and he shares sons Blake and Wyatt with Beisner.
Buck and his wife share photos of their family often on social media. “To Joe, Blake and Wyatt….My heartbeats,” Beisner wrote on Instagram for their birthdays. “My everything. I beam with so much pride, joy, and unconditional love for all of you. You will forever be the greatest gifts of my life. Thank you to everyone that made their birthdays so special. It meant the world to us. Love you so much, my Buck Boys.”
